INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
THE WELLSPRING INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH AND EDUCATION (WIRE): EXPANDING RESEARCH AND INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES.
The Wellspring Institute for Research and Education (WIRE) was founded in 2016 as a non-profit
affiliation of Wellspring Family & Community Institute. It has a board of directors, an advisory
board, interns and community partners. WIRE offers research internships to graduate and post
graduate students majoring in psychology or a closely related social science program at an
accredited college or university.
Research interns are individuals who have a strong interest in integrative mental and behavioral
healthcare research. Internships are paid or unpaid depending on the intern’s license status. Most
interns enter into an agreement with WIRE to fulfill university or college practicum requirements
for graduation.
Because WIRE is a 501(c)(3) entity, it is important that all licensed practitioners of the institute
contribute to the following expectations:
- Review, accept, and adhere to the WIRE Code of Conduct
- Make participation with WIRE explicit in all professional contexts (publications, websites, email, at conferences, presentations, etc.)
- Agree to be listed on our website during participation and notify us in writing should intern decide to terminate participation prior to term end date
- Have an active program of research, with behavioral sciences defined broadly
- Be actively involved in WIRE through activities like attending seminars, presenting research, participating in interest groups, and mentoring interns or volunteers.
- Also, all research projects must provide an educational component, fulfills academic requirements for intern graduation, professional growth and the pursuit of discovery through mental health research.
